About 12 Sudbury Street — King West Village
While they’re not the only demographic who can enjoy living in the King West Village Condos, the spacious townhouses at 12 Sudbury Street are perfect for prospective buyers who are slightly on the introverted side. What we mean is they’re ideal for those who don’t want to ride an elevator with neighbours or say hello to a concierge at least twice a day — every day.
Technically covering 3 storeys (although the units are dispersed more horizontally than they are vertically), the red brick townhouses at 12 Sudbury are complemented by classic black roofs and lots of outdoor space.
The building is also something of a trendsetter: the King West Village Condos existed before there were many others like it in the area. Built in 2000 by Urbancorp, the building offers its residents more than just stylish living spaces in an even more stylish locale. At 12 Sudbury, residents have access to a common rooftop terrace with barbecues and security.
The Suites
All in all, there are 207 units to be found at the King West Village Condos. That’s the perfect amount: not too overwhelming, yet just enough guarantee that prospective buyers will see King West condos for sale in this building on the market every now and then. The units at 12 Sudbury also vary in size, from around 600 to 1,700 square feet, meaning everyone from a single professional to a family of four can feel at home here.
Single-storey ground floor suites tend to feel bungalow-esque (from the inside at least), while uppermost units have the added benefit of coming equipped with private rooftop decks. Not to worry, though, every unit has private space of some sort or another — with barbecue hookups to boot.
The finishes are hard to speak of in general terms, as the building has been around for so long now. Prospective buyers might be surprised at how many great upgrades have been made to a suite, or they might choose to purchase one at a lower price, with the intention of doing some renovations of their own.
Some features that reoccur throughout the complex, however, include hardwood flooring and carpeting, plus open concept layouts. And at least one parking spot is dedicated to each and every unit at the King West Village Condos.
The Neighbourhood
Residents of 12 Sudbury Street might actually have to make a concerted effort in order to spend time inside their homes. That’s simply because the surrounding neighbourhood(s) have so much to offer.
Between Liberty Village to the South, West Queen West to the North, Trinity Bellwoods, and South Parkdale, new residents will be overwhelmed when making a decision about how to spend their first few weekends.
The allure of the industrial architecture that fills Liberty Village is a great place to start, for those who need assistance. Here, options for spending a day include browsing various furniture and design shops, sitting down to brunch, and even watching a soccer match at Lamport Stadium.
Alternatively, a walk up to Queen West promised sights and smells that are to die for. Some of the city’s best chefs have gravitated to this area in recent years — especially on Ossington just north of Queen. Independent and vintage boutiques are also abundant, as are book stores, home goods, and independent and specialty food shops.
As for those craving green space, Joseph Workman Park is just around the corner. However, since this park is quite small, we better mention that the expansive (and beloved) Trinity Bellwoods is also a short walk away. Here, residents can bring pets to the off-leash dog bowl, take a swim in the indoor pool, or even play a match of tennis or two.
Even grocery shopping is a breeze; it takes residents about 10 minutes to walk to the Metro in Liberty Village, while the Frescho at Queen and Gladstone takes the same amount of time to reach.
Transportation
Moving about is simple when one lives at the King West Village Condos. This is because the building is located directly between to major arterial roads, each of which contains streetcar tracks as well. Those without cars can ride east in order to catch the subway — at Osgoode when using Queen Street or St. Andrew when heading along King.
Drivers can use these two streets as well, but they might want to head south to the Gardiner Expressway for even speedier travel. From here, one can ride along the southern edge of the city with ease, or they might want to connect onto the 427 to the west or the Don Valley Parkway to the east.
