About 555 Wilson Avenue — The Station Condos
SMV Architects opted for a monochromatic look when designing the Station Condos at 555 Wilson Avenue and 565 Wilson Avenue. The building’s façade is clad in glass and grey stone, while the hallways inside also embrace a minimalist grey colour palette.
Even the public art outside 555 Wilson Ave and 565 Wilson Ave only features a tiny trace of colour. Welder, sculptor, and metal artist Clare Scott-Taggart created custom pieces for the Station Condos that consist of metal orbs piled atop one another. Nearly all of these spheres are black or white, save for a singular green piece.
Brandy Lane Homes worked with SMV Architects to create the Station Condos in 2016. The residential complex consists of one 14-storey tower and another tower that reaches to 13 floors, which are adjoined by a common podium.
There’s more than just 388 North York condos inside 555 Wilson Ave and 565 Wilson Ave: residents also have access to a gym, an indoor infinity pool, a sauna, a theatre, and a games room. In addition to a more traditional party room and a large terrace with barbecues, the building also boasts three “urbanas”: smaller, indoor-outdoor party rooms with barbecues and dining tables.
The Suites
The demographics of North York seem to be ever-changing, and thankfully the Station Condos is prepared for all sorts of prospective residents that come its way. Toronto condos for rent or sale here start at around 500 and reach to an impressive 2,700 square feet, and contain anywhere from one bedroom to three bedrooms plus a den. Those looking for something that feels more like a house can opt for one of the “Town Lofts,” which covers two storeys, while others may be more interested in the suites that are zoned for both commercial and residential use.
Those interested in making the most of the warm weather while it lasts will be glad to hear that the architects prioritized outdoor space. Every unit contains a terrace, a loggia (a sunroom room with open walls), a French balcony, or a combination of these features. Prospective residents can also expect to find granite counters and stainless steel appliances in kitchens, double-glazed, low-emission windows, engineered laminate flooring, plus ceramic tile in bathrooms and laundry areas.
The Neighbourhood
North York’s Clanton Park and Wilson Heights neighbourhood seems to be growing and growing, with no signs of stopping. That’s a great thing for residents living at 555 Wilson Ave and 565 Wilson Ave, as new amenities continue to pop up all the time.
Even Yorkdale Mall, which has been around since 1964, has expanded considerably in recent years. On top of all the retail stores, this shopping centre is also home to a movie theatre and plenty of restaurants, one of which happens to be a Cheesecake Factory. Other useful stores can be found in the SmartCentres plaza on Wilson, just north of the 401, including Costco, Best Buy, Home Depot, LCBO and more.
Transportation
They don’t call this building the Station Condos for nothing. These homes are named for Wilson subway station, which can be reached by walking west on Wilson for just 5 minutes. Once here, passengers can hop onto southbound trains that will carry them into the city centre in no time.
Drivers also benefit from this location, thanks to their close proximity to the 401. This major highway can be used to reach Pearson International Airport to the west, or to connect onto north-south highways like the 427 and the Don Valley Parkway.
