    About 61 Heintzman StreetThe Heintzman Place

    Heintzman Place could very well be Toronto’s very own Melrose Place — minus the scandal, drama, and deception, that is. What Heintzman Place and the famous fictional apartment complex do have in common, then, is a sense of community and inclusivity amongst residents.

    And while the names may also be similar, the building at 60-61 Heintzman was actually named for something more local. Heintzman Piano, a Notable Canadian piano producer, was the prior resident of the land, back when the company was first established.

    Built in 2011 by Lanterra Developments, the high-rise at 60-61 Heintzman Street was the first of its kind. To this day, the area lacks an abundance of skyscrapers, allowing residents some of the best views in town.

    The building sold out quickly, appealing to residents of all types, including young first time buyers, empty nesters and budding families. Thanks to the wealth of communal spaces, the layout facilitates interactions between residents. For example, a library and lounge are available for homeowners to use, while a party room with kitchen and exercise room also provide space to socialize. And while lush amenities are far and few between — no rooftop swimming pool to be found here folks — low maintenance fees make up for this fact.

    The condos at 60-61 Heintzman Street also score points for their eco-friendliness. On top of solar heating and a green roof, residents also have access to an on-site car share program, “Options for Cars.” This nonprofit Toronto Cooperative was established in 2009, and has been steadily growing ever since.

    The Suites

    Between the 327 units spread out over 16 storeys, there are quite a few options in terms of sizes and layouts, and these Toronto condos for sale can be found at varying price points. Square footage ranges from around 500 to 1,200, while homes come in the form of studios to three bedroom units.

    The homes at 60-61 Heintzman Street boast beautiful hardwood floors, modern kitchens and bathrooms, and just enough balcony space to enjoy the sweeping views over the city.

    The Neighbourhood

    Located in the heart of The Junction, residents live in what feels like Toronto’s best-kept secret. Okay, so most people know about the Junction, however thanks to its west end Toronto locale this tends to be less of a tourist zone than it should be.

    The Junction is ideal for anyone who loves food, café culture, live music, design, and of course history. Once known as “West Toronto” and technically classified as its own, separate city, this area is now a place where some of Toronto’s most imaginative residents choose to live. The modern name comes from two junctions: that of two native Canadian trails, as well as a pair of more contemporary railway lines.

    Oddly enough, a law technically maintained that no alcohol be sold in Junction, until it was overturned in 1997. This is mainly strange because today a number of craft breweries can be found inhabiting the area.

    Those into home décor will be more than delighted with the handmade and restored furniture found in shops throughout the Junction. Alternatively, DIY projects are easy as can be, thanks to the Home Depot, RONA Home & Garden, and Canadian Tire located at Keele and St. Clair. Also in this big-box store complex is a Metro, where residents can stock up on provisions for the week, while Tim & Sue’s No Frills on Pacific Avenue is yet another inexpensive option.

    Transportation

    Traveling around the immediate area is less frustrating for residents of Heintzman Place than for their counterparts trying to navigate the streets in the centre of the city. When the time comes to head toward the Financial District, Entertainment District, Yonge and Dundas, and the likes, driving along Dundas West will come in handy. This arterial road snakes southward before curving into the east-west route that reaches all the way across the city.

    Alternatively, Keele Street is another major road that will carry drivers north to the 401 or south toward the Gardiner Expressway. The former allows drivers to exit the city altogether, while the latter can be used to zip east along the lakeshore.

    Those relying on public transit are also in good shape with 60-61 Heintzman Street as a starting point. Buses along Annette and Dupont Streets provide eastbound access, while those heading out on lengthier journeys may prefer to take the subway. Thankfully, then, Dundas West Station on the Bloor-Danforth line can be reached in about 20 minutes on foot, or via a 10-minute ride on the 40 Junction bus.
