    About 61 Main Street61 Main

Nestled between Kingston Road and Gerrard Street in Toronto’s Upper Beaches & East Danforth neighborhood is where the charming condos at 61 Main Street can be found. Surrounded by a pleasant contrast of tree-lined residential streets and the bustling businesses on major roads, 61 Main is a perfect address for a first-time homeowner looking to reside in the east end Toronto without breaking the bank, as well as retirees looking for a cozy corner of the city to settle down in.

Built in 1986, 61 Main Street has a quaint façade of alternating red and yellow bricks. These low-rise condos are located across the street from the Cavalry Baptist Church, and share the street with a community centre, a firehouse, and a heath centre.

This building also sports a surprisingly large range of amenities for a building of its size, giving residents use of a rooftop terrace, a party room, a meeting room and an outdoor patio and garden. Best of all, residents are not far from sandy beaches to the south, or the great tastes and smells of Greektown.

    The Suites

This building stands at 4 storeys tall, and holds 24 units that range in size from around 600 square feet to around 800 at the largest. Toronto condos for sale at 61 Main feature either 1 or 2 bedrooms, and offer spacious family rooms for residents to customize to their own standards and tastes.

The suites boast high ceilings and large windows that make the spaces within them bright and warm. Adding a hint of gloss, on the other hand, are the laminate wood floors found throughout the units. Cozy Kitchens have tile backsplashes and floors (as do foyers and bathrooms), and convenient breakfast nooks to serve or entertain from. Suites also have their own stacked washer and dryer units, tucked away neatly inside linen closets.

    The Neighbourhood

While set away from Toronto’s core, the area around 61 Main is like a smaller city unto itself, full of great venues, restaurants, shops and green spaces for residents to get used to. The building is about 10 minutes away from the shops and attractions on Queen Street East, and even closer to the numerous business, shops, restaurants and grocery stores along nearby Kingston Road.

For fun or relaxation around the Upper Beaches, residents can visit the Fox Theatre (known for showing independent films), stop by the Main Street Public Library, or check out what is happening at the nearby Main Square Community Centre.

One of the area’s best features is the abundance of parks, such as Norwood Park, Love Crescent Parkette, Glen Stewart Park, East Toronto Sports Field, Stanley G Grizzle Park, and the Beaches Park to the south. And residents with children will have several schools to choose from, including Kimberley Junior Public School, Neil McNeil Secondary School, Williamson Road Elementary, or the Beaches Alternative Junior School.

    Transportation

For residents, getting around should be no problem at all. Kingston Road and Queen Street east are both equipped with streetcars that run east and west. Additionally, buses run right along Main Street, making stops just across the street from the building. As well, the Danforth GO Station is about a 9-minute walk away, while the Main Street Subway Station is 11-minutes away on foot.

Motorists living at 61 Main Street can access the Don Valley Parkway via Danforth Avenue, or take Kingston Road to reach Lake Shore Boulevard East and the Gardiner Expressway.
